Otto Steenken was a lot of things: carpenter, family man, and evidently – the guy who in the early 1960s invented the all-terrain table saw stand. The tool companies never picked up on this idea, but maybe one of them should...
I stumbled across this photo of Otto's table saw stand on the web – it was taken by a relative after he passed away. The handles look like real knee-bashers, so Otto probably unscrewed them when it was time to use the saw. Or maybe they were connected to the outfeed roller at the back of the saw – and by sliding them forward to get them out of the way it put the roller at a good working distance behind the table.
The saw looks like it's from the 1950s. Does anyone know what it is? If so, please explain in the comments section below.
