Ridgid 12-Volt Subcompact With Chuck
Following in the lithium-ion subcompact trend is the new Ridgid Micros, but it has an important difference: a 3/8-inch drill chuck. This is the first true drill in this new weight class, so it has the ability to take standard drill bits, not just 1/4-inch hex shanks. The key to fitting a chuck on a super-short drill was the invention of the patented "Chutch system," which combines a keyless chuck, 18-position clutch, and gearbox into a single assembly. Its best-in-class 120 inch-pounds of torque powered a 1-inch spade bit through 2-bys in our initial testing. Ridgid R82007 Micros: $129. 800-474-3443.
