The most common way to set a depth on a masonry bit is to wrap a piece of tape around the shaft of the bit. It's a crude method and the tape usually has to be replaced every few holes. Bosch aims to put an end to this practice with its new SDS-Plus carbide-tipped stop bits. They come with a collar that creates a built-in, immovable depth stop so that all your holes will be consistent and you won't have to worry about overdrilling. Diameters range from 3/8 to 5/8 inch and drilling depths from 13/16 inch to 2-1/16 inches.
