As the latest entry in the ongoing competition for the perfect deck demo tool, the Duck Prybar is distinguished by its unique adjustable head. The prying forks of the bar rotate and lock into place in various positions under the deck boards. Unlike pry bars that require you to work from the side that's already been demoed, this one lets you work from the side where the decking remains. The head is designed to straddle a 2x4, and the other end has a traditional crowbar hook.

Cutting door and window openings through sheathing with a recip saw usually leaves a rough and crooked edge. Milwaukee's new flush-cut blade was created for these applications. It has a wide flexible truss design that the company says makes clean, straight cuts along framing members. The blade also has two long teeth that protect the other teeth from damage when the saw is used for cutting out a bottom plate on a concrete floor.

Bostitch recently upgraded its 15-gauge finish nailer with an eye toward making life easier for the trim carpenter. The gun has a small, thumb-operated blowgun for clearing away dust and debris and a small battery-powered LED on the nose. The exhaust has been moved to the back of the handle. Also, the nail magazine is marked 16 inches from the tip, for use as a quick reference when running baseboard. The tool is oil-free, so there's no need to worry about leaving oil spots on stain-grade lumber. There's even a small pencil sharpener at the base of the magazine. That's a lot of features for a gun that weighs just over 4 pounds. Be careful buying this tool – it has the same product number (N62FNK-2) as its predecessor.

To a thief, a construction site can be a treasure trove of expensive tools and possibly an easy way to get into someone's house. Nightwatcher Security Lighting should thoroughly freak out even the most adept burglars and vandals. The lamp operates like a standard motion sensor light except that it doesn't just light up – it also points in the direction of the moving object and follows it for as long as it remains within a 60-foot range. The device has a turning radius of 220 degrees and installs with three wires, just like any light. Both halogen and LED models are available, and some units can record video.

Air hoses can be difficult to stow and are a real tripping hazard. Because of the unique design of its inner and outer walls, the new GilaFlex hose has no shape memory; it coils easily – and can do a tight 180-degree turn without kinking – and lies flat when you unroll it. Steel coils at either end add support to the areas that receive the most abuse. It's sold in 25-, 50-, 100-, and 200-foot lengths.
