And the PowerClaw is one of them. It's a power strip built into a spring-loaded clamp. The jaws open up to 3 1/2 inches wide at the narrowest point and the non-marring rubber pads will grab just about anything. The power strip has 3 grounded outlets, a 15-amp resettable breaker, and a 3-foot 14/3 power cord.

Shown here clamped to an attic rafter, it would be equally at home on a ladder, post, or edge of a bench. According to its maker, the PowerClaw will hit store shelves in November 2013 and sell for about $30.
