Anyone who's ever been in need of information from HUD or the Bureau of Labor Statistics knows how confusing government Web sites can be. But now there's FirstGov.com, a Web site that helps you find the information you're looking for.
The site is broken down into featured links, links of interest by topic, and links for state and local government.
These pages are then broken down into a long list of specific topics and subtopics to help aid you in your search. And FirstGov has a search engine that actually works. After typing "C50 report," the U.S. Census Bureau's reports on residential improvements and repairs, FirstGov brought up a link that contained a brief explanation of the report, contact information, and links to past quarterly reports on the Census Bureau's redesigned Web site. It's a simple and direct portal to government information and affairs and may just be the last site you need when it comes to dealing with the dot-govs.
