Stanley's New Logo as of June 2013
Stanley's old logo - introduced in 1995 and phased out in 2013
From the department of boring corporate news: Stanley does something for only the third time in 170 years.
They changed their logo. Since 1995 it has been yellow on black with notched edges. But as of June 2013 it is black on yellow in a rectangular box with a stylized font for the letter "N". This is not big news to you or me but is the kind of thing marketing folks get all whipped up about. I'm mentioning it here in case something seems off the next time you look at a Stanley tool display. It's not your eyes - something is different. You're likely to see a mix of logos until existing inventory is sold off, at which point everything will be the new black on yellow.
Stanley also changed their tagline. That's probably a change for the better because I wasn't aware that the previous tagline was "Make something great". Before that it was "Stanley helps you do things right". That one I remember. Stanley's new tagline is "Performance in Action". No doubt someone was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to come up with that. Clearly, I'm in the wrong business.
