Remodeling recently surveyed 730 remodelers and found that nearly 20% of respondents have a company policy in place banning radios for jobsites. Those who do ban them say that safety is the main concern, while others feel that they get in the way of effective communication—particularly when they are turned up too loud. Offending clients is another concern, as is distracting workers.
Proponents of jobsite radios feel that the music is beneficial: “It helps with morale and can provide a 'rhythm' to the work day. As the owner/crew leader I reserve the right to control volume and to some extent content … ,” said one respondent.
