A number of companies have released small 12-volt reciprocating saws, but the Porter-Cable Clamp Saw is the first one that actually holds onto the material for you. This tool can be used either in the standard manner or with the workpiece captured between a primary and secondary shoe so it can't move back and forth with the blade. Material up to 2 inches wide – pipe, conduit, and the like – will fit inside the clamp. The saw has a 5/8-inch stroke and a 3,000-spm cutting speed. It also has an LED work light. Its articulated handle and light weight (less than 3 pounds) make it easy to use in tight quarters. The kit contains the tool, two batteries, a charger, and a storage bag.
