Tim Uhler, a framer on Washington's Kitsap Peninsula, is an avid photographer who occasionally shoots video. He probably shot this because he thought the scene and subject matter would look cool in a time lapse. And they do. That two carpenters can efficiently assemble, move, and stand heavy walls shows the value to tooling up. The telehandler allows a crew of two to lift walls that four carpenters would have a hard time standing--and to frame the walls where it's most convenient instead of right next to where they will stand. Not every crew or company is a candidate to use of this kind of equipment. The only way to know if it makes sense is to do the math and compare the cost of buying, leasing, or renting machinery to the cost of hiring, training, or renting more labor.
