Very popular among my crew, the PR20EVS is meant to be a more versatile router with an adjustable speed control. The base system impressed everybody, there is a soft-start feature, and the visibility was good. Overall, it's a nice tool. And, for work in laminate, you can fully upfit the tool with offset and tilt bases that were not available for testing. | Price

This was our favorite for dedicated laminate work because of its clear, simple design. One screw attaches all the bases to the motor, it comes in a great case with two bits, the directions were educational, and the visibility was the best of the non-plastic bases. | Price

This is an impressive new entry. Its long, illuminated cord is great, and it has soft-start, adjustable speed, a nice case, and a terrific warranty. The only negatives: There's no micro adjustment on the base, no corner attachment, and no angled base, which somewhat limits versatility. We had to remove the base for bit change, but at $100 it's a superb value. | Price
