Last August, we launched a brand-new website that offered better mobile functionality, as well as an updated navigation at the top of the page. The goal was to make our content more accessible across multiple device types. On top of that, we also wanted to give you better access to the articles you need—to make better buying decisions, for example.

We’ve been building on those improvements in several ways, and just launched the results this week. Within this redesign, you’ll find a new navigation as well as a robust manufacturers directory platform aimed at providing you with more information at your fingertips. We would love feedback on anything that would make these pages more useful to you, so please feel free to email me at cermides@hanleywood.com with your thoughts and suggestions.

Improved Navigation

Let’s start with the first thing you’ll notice, which is improved navigation. Now when you click on a drop-down menu, you have more options to further narrow your search. So, for example, you don’t have to scroll through all benchtop tools to see all of the table-saw articles. You just click Power, expand the Benchtop and Stationary Tools category, then one click on Table Saws takes you to all of the Table Saw content.

Once there, you’ll notice that the content is organized in a new and fresh way. The top five of our editorial articles are displayed, with the option to View All below that list. Below the list is our new Manufacturers Directory where you will see all of the manufacturers associated with that product type, and will have access to each manufacturer’s individual page on our site.

Manufacturer Pages

Clicking on a manufacturer’s page within this directory will take you to a landing page for that manufacturer. There you’ll be able to read a quick summary of the manufacturer, contact information, and links to its website and social media, and browse the product categories that the manufacturer is represented in. In addition, you'll also see pictures and descriptions of products along with a list of all articles in which that manufacturer is featured or mentioned on Tools of the Trade.

If you work for a manufacturer, you can log in and claim your company’s page. Once logged in, you will be able to make changes, add pictures, and edit descriptions and links of your tools. Manufacturers can manage pages via the Login or Register links at the top-right of the page.
