According to an article in Edmunds, Ford officials said the company currently has no plans to build a diesel-powered F-150. The company claims the fuel savings are not great enough to justify the higher price of that type of engine. Chrysler believes otherwise and has reaffirmed its plans to build a diesel-powered Ram 1500. According to Chrysler most buyers keep trucks long enough to recoup the added cost of a diesel engine. Chrysler isn't the only company with plans to sell light-duty and full-size diesel trucks: Nissan and Cummins are developing a four-cylinder diesel for the Titan.
