In this video, woodworker Tom Hintz of took table saw kickback literally into his own hands in order to demonstrate the danger. By first removing the riving knife from his saw and the blade guard, Hintz uses a block of wood and a push block to purposefully create the kickback. What ends up happening with the push block may be somewhat of a surprise to many of you. I’ve seen this scenario demonstrated with ridged foam before—both purposefully and by accident—and both times were scary enough. I could barely keep my eyes open when Hintz showed the closeup of his hand nearly catching the blade.
